had brunch with friends Jessica and Paul today at The Breakfast Club on Tybee Island...paid $12 for a greasy homestyle skillet something coded SOL on the ticket. ha!
Jess coined a great one today..."comatoast"! that one is right up there with my other personal fav, "the undertoad". any other Irving fans?

i'm going to take a nap now.
i checked tonight on register.com to see if my personal tag line, "girl at large" is available. it is. in addition, the site lists other similiar names that are open.
my personal favorite: "girl-in-a-broad-way" funny stuff!
my tooth is killing me. two now rotting wisdom teeth have to come out via oral surgeon next week. god knows how much that will cost. can one barter with an oral surgeon?
gray hairs: 4

heartburn: 3x a week

turning 30?: priceless
i stayed home from werk today. 6 days a week is just too much sometimes. i'm enjoying my newly expansive-feeling 500 square feet to the fullest this afternoon...both the living room and bedroom are usable for the first time in months! (i hop from one room into the other to surprise myself...oooh! lookee! a whole other room! yippee!)
i just remembered that i have plants on the balcony, i haven't watered them in a few weeks. oops. maybe its because of my not-so-secret neurotic discomfort around house plants. well, at least i tried.
SUNDAY PHONE CALL: so i turned mom onto my brother Thomas' journal website (www.csene.com) and she loves it. says she gets more insight into him than in the usual Sunday phone call. and this cracks me up:
mom:"there's a list of things he likes and he's got you on there Kate! see?, he does like you!"
me:"that's a link to my journal site mom. yes, i do think he likes me, but thats so you can go to my site."
mom:"great! now i don't have to call either of you!"
i had a dream last night that i lost all sorts of weight (there are many kinds). so, i'm skinny, right? and at this dinner party, and i tell a story (to the highschool exboyfriend, my new neighbor who now looks suspiciously like a goat and a girl with holographic sunglasses). no laughter. silence, blank stares. I'M NOT FUNNY! i had lost all my powers of humourous self-deprecation. like Samson. a nightmare.
the bedroom painting is done, and it looks fabulous..all warm chocolate brown. some lighting and rearranging to do, and then it will be complete. jill-of-all-trades Jessica rocks! anyone need a handy-gal, let me know!

started painting the bedroom today! it looks fabulous already!! pictures to come soon...the transformation of my little dumpy corner of the world is amazing..i can't believe i will finally have it all clean and pretty and remodeled..just in time to leave it! classic.
obedience lessons tonight! 15 dogs and handlers with various levels of ability, one drill sargeant marsquarading as a little gray haired lady, and 5 or 6 henchmen in one fenced in arena for an hour and a half of organized chaos! i don't know who is more hot, stinky and tired; Ruby or me!
up til 2am last night, moving bookcases and the rest of my life from the bedroom into the living room so Jessica can start painting tomorrow. the kitchen is finally done! well, except for the sink and the stove, but those are minor details. i am a nomad in my own home.
weird A thing figured out. if the page looked even weirder for a few minutes, i apologize...this thing is trial and error for me for awhile longer i'm afraid.
sorry about the weird, random A's on the site, i'm trying to figure that one out. at least they are French A's, what with the circumflexes and all.
i very much enjoyed seeing Hal Holbrooks portrayal of Mark Twain at the newly restored Lucas Theater last night..thank you, Kristan, for joining me! its been so long since i've had a cultural outing here in Savannah; the pickings are slim most times. Ruby and i have homework to do today for obedience class on Tuesday night. i still have school issues...does performance anxiety apply to dog training?
in other news: the chicken bone on the third floor hallway has finally vanished. whether it was properly disposed of by the offending neighbor or simply disintegrated on its own is a mystery. how it got there in the first place is no mystery to locals.
laying in bed, a little weepy tonight and as i shift under the blanket a single white down feather escapes from the duvet, floats in midair on the box fans breeze (Savannah nights are still warm well into September)...shiny little Ruby, in one smooth leap over my legs, catches it in her mouth and turns to me with big brown eyes as if to say "got it!": a perfect, beautiful moment. god, i love my dog.
kiss the dog, kiss the kids, let the other car go first, give the parking meter gal a break (its just her job). its a good day to give everyone a break. including yourself..turn the cell phone, the radio, the tv off.
SUNDAY PHONE CALL: ma mere reveals that she has found an apartment for grandmere to spend the upcoming winter in the warm environs of the French Riviera. so, it will be me, Grandma Mickey, Uncle Bert and Mom...its turning into a little expat village!
(sharing a room with Uncle Bert for a few weeks/months will certainly make for some interesting stories...be sure to tune in).
p.s. mom is really into the sailing thing...she may wonder off to sea any day now.
so i excitedly send all my loved ones an email with the crypic message "its a good start". what is a good start? i neglected to attach the all important web address i was referring to. i'm a moron.
i think i might finally have figured out how to write html, and then i find this site..(thanks Thomas) that does all the hard work for me. typical! well, lets see how this goes..i'll post a journal of sorts, add photos and pics later. i've got this in mind in particular for posting a journal of my year abroad. starting in january, i'll be living in the south of France!
